Yoel Wazana Shows How an Industry's Reputation Can Improve Over Time

Business is going well for Yoel Wazana and his company, Micro Solutions Enterprises, right now, but remanufactured toner cartridges didn't always see this kind of popularity. Back in the bad, old days of the industry, (the late 1980s) companies weren't exactly thrilled about the recycled toner cartridges on the market. The market for remanufactured toner cartridges began in the 80s because more and more companies were using printers in their offices. However, and you can see how some things never change, buying new cartridges was just way too expensive. Business owners needed an alternative to cut down on unmaintainable costs.

When the first manufacturers started making recycled cartridges, they used shoddy designs and unreliable methods to create them. Most used the "drill and fill" approach. That's exactly what it sounds like. They would drill a hole in the bottom of a spent cartridge, refill it with ink, patch it up, and sell it. Needless to say, they would tend to leak, causing much damage and aggravation. This image of recycled toner cartridges persisted for years and was one of the reasons why Yoel Wazana decided to strike out on his own. He saw a real opportunity. If he could make a high quality remanufactured toner cartridge, he would separate himself from the pack quickly and get plenty of business.

Nearly 20 years after launching MSE, Wazana has helped rehabilitate his industry by providing consumers with high quality products that are an excellent OEM- alternative for a lower price.
